January 2008 Newsletter
The new issue of The Pen & Press, the NCPA newsletter, is now posted.
This issue has some fine articles, including Carlos Alcalá’s informative view of the advantages of a small publisher, a “Member Spotlight” on Juanita J. Martin, and some photos of the December “meet and greet” opportunity at Merrill Gardens Retirement Community, where members showed their books, answered questions, and talked about their accomplishments.
The issue also includes notice of the PMA Publishing University scholarship opportunity, with a deadline looming, an early look at the planned April NCPA conference, and notice of the NCPA book competition, also with a deadline coming up in mid-January.
The article and notice submission deadline for the next issue (March-April 2008) is Feb. 22, 2008.
Merry Christmas (or other holiday of choice, or no holiday, if that is your choice), and Happy New Year!
Oh, while I am posting anyway, remember that renewals for those whose memberships expire at the end of this month are now due, and the roster will be purged on or about February 1st. I mailed renewal notices, with return envelopes, in November. See the November-December Pen & Press for details, including mailing address for renewals, if you did not receive or have misplaced (read: tossed with the junk mail) the renewal notice. That issue also included a list of those due for renewal.
