Publishing University Scholarship
The IBPA Publishing University, a series of seminars led by publishing experts, is held every year just before BookExpo America. BEA is the biggest book industry convention in North America. As an affiliate of IBPA, NCPA is allowed to pick one person from our organization to attend at no charge.
The scholarship includes two full days of attendance at numerous seminars, luncheons, and attendance at the Benjamin Franklin Awards dinner. IBPA also provides a badge to attend BEA, if requested. NCPA provides a $500 stipend to partially cover travel expenses.
BEA 2008 featured more than 2,000 exhibits, 500 authors, over 60 conference sessions, and a special area for rights business.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a publisher. You will be expected to share what you learned, either by writing a column for the newsletter or by being a speaker at a group meeting. Past recipients are ineligible for a second scholarship. Recipients are chosen in January. Ask the current NCPA president for an application in November.
